Obituary for Nettie Suk

Nettie Suk
Nettie Suk went to be with her Lord and Saviour on March 2, 2017, at 84 years of age.
Nettie will be lovingly remembered and missed by her children, Caroline Suk of Edmonton; Ken (Helen) Suk and son, Nicholas of Calgary; Cathie (Stephen) Ostapchuk of Oakville, ON and children, Jordan (Laura), Natasha (James) Allen of Burlington, ON, and Halina of Oakville, ON; Colleen (Gary) Korzan and children, Nathaniel, Kaitlyn, Kimberly and Chloe of Kelowna, BC; and Kelvin Suk of Edmonton. Nettie was predeceased by her parents, Nicholas and Helen; daughter, Marianne Helen Suk; husband, John Suk; and brother, Reverend Alex Piatocha.
Born in Zimno, Ukraine, Nettie moved to Canada at four years of age with her parents and brother, Alexander, in search of a better life. They eventually put down roots in Benito, MB. After her marriage to the love of her life, John Suk, she built a life and a family in Edmonton. Nettie was a compassionate and joyful woman of faith and integrity and truly loved her family, sharing her gift of hospitality and exhibiting a heart for people, both here and in Ukraine.
Heartfelt appreciation to Dr. Christine Sharek, the staff at Rosedale Estates, and Nandini Maharaj-Narube and her team on 11Y at the Edmonton General Continuing Care Centre for their loving care and kindness to Nettie and the entire family during her illness.
A Celebration of Nettie’s Life will be held Wednesday, March 15 at 11:00 a.m. at Park Memorial Chapel, 9709 – 111 Avenue, Edmonton. Interment in Beechmount Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations in Nettie’s memory can be made to the Slavic Gospel Association – Ukraine Missions, www.sgacanada.ca./donations/.
